Oh, the month of April. It's such a conundrum. On the one hand, the word "April" conjures up images of green and flowers and warmer days.
On the other hand, this IS New England, so it could still snow (and indeed, there is potential snow in the forecast). Additionally, despite the idyllic images April brings up in your noodle, it tends to be ... how should we put this?
Y'all. It rains a LOT in April, which makes it a tough old month. It can be hard to feel inspired when you're looking out the window at yet another day of grey skies and rain. In fact, it can get downright depressing.
When you hit the April doldrums, however, it's important to remember this: "April showers bring May flowers". It's true. We need the April rains to bring us what is lovely and amazing. Without the rains, nothing blooms.
This is true in life, I think. Sometimes things are tough. Sometimes life gets a bit gloomy. We need these days, though, to highlight the amazing ones. The rain gives us appreciation for fair days and bright blooms. The tough times give us the chance to appreciate the days that are filled with laughter and joy.
And on those rainy days, don't forget -- there are always umbrellas.
